Before the release of Star Wars: Rogue One, director Gareth Edwards announced that he has a cameo in the sci-fi spinoff. He didn’t reveal the part at the time and he still hasn’t do so himself.
This story contains spoilers about Star Wars: Rogue One.
Now, someone on Twitter claims to have discovered Edwards’ cameo–and it’s pretty cool. As you can see in the image below from Leonardo Valdivia, the rebel soldier in the foreground bears a striking resemblance to Edwards. He’s the one, at the end of the film, who disengages the Tantive IV ship, helping save key characters like Princess Leia, C-3PO, and R2-D2.
Star Wars: Episode VIII director Rian Johnson can also be seen in Rogue One, playing the role of a soldier on board the Death Star.
Rogue One came out on December 16 and has made more than $800 million to date. It arrives in China today, January 6, and money from that market is expected to help push the film over $1 billion. The country is currently facing terrible smog, which some say could hurt its opening-weekend performance.
