Tekken and Dark Souls publisher Bandai Namco has detailed its financial results for the three month period ending March 31, 2017. It reported an improvement in both sales and profit, thanks in large part due to the popularity of its licensed intellectual properties.
Sales were reported at $1.4 billion, which is around a seven percent improvement over the same period in 2016. Profits, meanwhile, were cited as $189 million, a year-on-year improvement of roughly 50 percent.
As alluded to previously, the Mobile Suit Gundam, Dragon Ball, and One Piece licenses continued to be popular. Bandai Namco leverages these for games, toys, and other divisions, but it did not break down the performance of each IP within them.
Bandai Namco’s recent releases include DLC for Dark Souls 3, an expansion for Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4, and Tales of Berseria, among others. Looking ahead, it will launch the third and final DLC for Dark Souls 3 in March and Tekken 7 in June.
