New Power Rangers Trailer Features Full Morphin' Action

The latest Power Rangers trailer is here. Like the first trailer released last year, it shows that that the movie is taking a more serious tone than the ’90s TV show Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers. However, this one reveals the Rangers in full costume, alongside villainous Rita Repulsa (Elizabeth Banks), their mentor Zordon (Bryan Cranston), Goldar, and various Zords. Check it out below:

Power Rangers opens in theaters on March 24, 2017, directed by Dean Israelite. It stars Dacre Montgomery, Naomi Scott, RJ Cyler, Becky G, and Ludi Lin. If the movie is a success, the series could span up to seven movies.

Early in his career, Cranston worked as a voice artist on Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers. In a recent interview with IGN, the actor revealed that he took the role when he realised that the movie was taking a different approach to the show. “I thought, ‘Power Rangers? It’s kind of the [1960s] Batman television show–Pow! Zing! Whap!’,” he admitted. “And I had a phone call with the director and he said, ‘Think of it this way… Batman came from TV and became a completely different animal in the movies, so too is it here. We’re going to take this and revamp it and it’s going to be grounded and real.’

“And I thought ‘Okay, with that, let me read it.’ I read it and went ‘You’re right.’ The kids sound like real kids and not everyone is this great athlete and everything is working out. I thought, ‘This might be a nice bookend to what I was doing before,’ since I started out doing voices.”
