Twin Peaks might be returning to screens in just over three months, but we are yet to see any footage from the new season. The latest promo doesn’t reveal any either, but it is an amusing reminder of how much the residents of Twin Peaks enjoy a good cup of coffee. Check it out below:
The two-hour premiere of the new season debuts on Showtime on May 21 at 9 PM ET. In the build-up to that, the channel will be broadcasting the first two seasons with back-to-back episodes every Sunday at 7 PM ET.
At the Television Critics Assocation press tour last month, Showtime CEO David Nevins revealed that the show will run a total of 18 hours, and that the next two episodes will be available online immediately afterwards.
Several teasers have been released over the past few months. The most recent one featured Kyle MacLachlan as FBI Agent Dale Cooper, while another showed co-creator David Lynch, in character as oddball Regional Bureau Chief Gordon Cole, snacking on a donut. We’ve also had composer Angelo Badalamenti performing some of the show’s haunting music, plus a look at some on-set footage.
In a recent interview with Twin Peaks Unwrapped podcast, Sherilyn Fenn, who plays Audrey Horne, spoke about her return to the cult show. “What David ended up writing for me was amazing, it was wonderful,” she said. “I was so excited, and nervous, and thrilled. We had a great time doing it, it was a bumpy ride getting there, but once we got there, we hugged.
“He said that he loves doing it so much, he said if people like the show, that he would do more. Now David can change his mind, as we know. But he said the hardest part is writing it–it’s just really buckling down and getting it written.”
Twin Peaks originally ran from 1990-91 on ABC, followed by a prequel film, Fire Walk With Me, in 1992. Much of the original cast is returning for the new season along with more than a few new additions.
Disclosure: Showtime is a division of CBS, which is GameSpot’s parent company.
