Ubisoft's New IP Will Be Announced at E3 or Earlier

Ubisoft’s mysterious new IP, which the company started talking about in February, will soon be discussed in a more official capacity. During the company’s earnings briefing today, management said the game will be announced at or before E3.

You will get a “full flavor of it” at E3, CFO Alain Martinez said. However, CEO Yves Guillemot interjected, saying that in fact the reveal may happen “before” E3. A Ubisoft representative declined to share further details on the announcement timing for the game.

During Ubisoft’s annual investor day in February, Martinez teased that the game will be “multiplayer-centric,” though it will also have a “strong solo side.”

The game, whatever it turns out to be, is slated to launch during Ubisoft’s upcoming fiscal 2016-17, which began on April 1, 2016 and ends March 31, 2017.

In addition to the new IP, Ubisoft is planning to release another new franchise, swordfighting game For Honor, during the upcoming fiscal year. Other games coming out during that window include South Park: The Fractured But Whole, Ghost Recon Wildlands, and the recently discussed Watch Dogs 2.

Also during the earnings call today, Ubisoft said it will announce “lots of dates” for its upcoming games at E3 2016. Here is exactly when Ubisoft’s briefing is scheduled to take place.
