WWE Champions Is A New Puzzle RPG That's Out Now

WWE has released a new video game that lets you take part in wrestling matches, albeit in a much different way than you’re likely used to doing in a game.

The free-to-play WWE Champions looks to be the company’s version of Puzzle Quest, which has proven to be a popular formula for Marvel. The top of the screen shows in-ring action while you play a match-three game just below. You can also activate various abilities that take the form of wrestling moves, including signature moves like The Rock’s Rock Bottom.

Outside of matches, you can assemble a team of current and classic rosters spanning the last few decades (you can see a handful of them in the gallery below). Each of your wrestlers can be upgraded and customized. Developer Scopely, which was previously behind The Walking Dead: Road to Survival, says there will be new events monthly to keep players coming back.

Champions joins existing WWE mobile games WWE SuperCard and WWE Immortals, which are also free-to-play. 2K also offers a mobile version of its WWE 2K games for mobile. Champions is available as a free download for iOS and Android devices.
